Green Jobs & the Economy

The Greater Minnesota Environmental Trust will put greater Minnesota’s economy and green jobs at the forefront of its agenda.

But what are green jobs? In Minnesota, they include four industry sectors: green products, renewable energy, green services, and environmental conservation.

The green economy is defined as products, processes, methods, technologies, or services intended to do one or more of the following: increase the use of energy from renewable sources; reduce greenhouse gas emissions; monitor, protect, restore, and preserve the quality of surface waters; and/or expand the use of biofuels.

Those hoping to take advantage of the green economy need updated information in order to take advantage of new technologies and new strategies that can stimulate the economic health and environment of greater Minnesota, and they must have the tools and the resources needed to develop green jobs.

GMET will take the lead. It will provide members with the latest information on green jobs and the green economy. It will help cities and businesses to understand emerging technologies. It will highlight new strategies that can stimulate the economic health and environment of greater Minnesota. It will provide information on funding and grant opportunities.
