Energy Conservation & Sustainability

The Greater Minnesota Environmental Trust will work for energy policies that benefit and sustain all of Minnesota.

Advances in energy conservation-tied to the expanded use of alternative energy sources-will stimulate local economic growth by lowering energy costs in both the public and private sectors. It will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help secure the state’s energy independence.

GMET will provide information regarding energy efficiency and renewable energy programs and share ideas and initiatives, such as the Sustain Winona Project (described in the attachment below), that business and government have undertaken. It will also untangle the funding maze by helping to connect communities to grants, loans, rebates, and credits available for energy-related projects.
